School Field Trips at the Jackson Street Roundhouse

Designed especially for students, our educational field trips offer a unique behind-the-scenes look at railroad history, technology, and restoration—all in an immersive, real-world setting.

Each field trip is structured to be both engaging and educational, with age-appropriate content and opportunities for questions and discovery.

Guided Museum Tour
 Students explore the Jackson Street Roundhouse Museum, where they’ll learn how railroads shaped local communities, industries, and transportation. Exhibits feature historic railroad artifacts, photographs, and equipment that help connect classroom lessons to real history.

Shop Area Tour
 Step into an active railroad shop area to see the tools and machinery used to maintain historic rail equipment. Students gain insight into mechanical systems, problem-solving, and skilled trades that keep trains running.
